Proper care helps preserve the comfort, durability and protective performance of your TUFFA workwear. Follow the relevant instructions below for garments with heat-applied or sew-on reflective tape.
General care instructions for heat applied tape garments
Heat-applied reflective tape requires gentle care to protect its bond and prevent peeling. Follow these instructions to maintain your garment’s visibility, performance and lifespan.
Wash garments inside out
This measure will protect against abrasion from other items in the washing cycle and prevent the tape from peeling away from the garment. Overloading the washing machine can also lead to unnecessary abrasion to the garment.
40ºC warm wash & tumble dry
This will protect the reflective tape; excessive temperatures could cause the tape to peel away from the garment.
Do not bleach
Bleaching could affect the colour and the FR properties (Flame Resistance) of the fabric.
Use synthetic detergents
Natural soaps are highly flammable and there is a potential for them to build up on the garment over time and can act like candle wax on the garment.
Warm iron - do not iron directly over heat applied tape
Ironing directly over this heat applied tape may cause it to peel away from the garment.
Alternating your garments
Frequently alternating your garment issue will increase the longevity of the product from excessive washing and wearing.
Line drying
To prevent fading, do not dry in direct sunlight.
Regular inspection of garments
Wearer damage or stains caused by oils, solvents, grease etc. could all impact the FR properties (flame resistance) of the garment.

Sew-on reflective tape is built for durability, but still needs proper care to preserve its reflectivity and protective performance. Follow these instructions to get the best results from your garment.
Wash garments inside out
This measure will protect against abrasion from other items in the washing cycle, it will also help preserve tape and fabric for a longer period of time. Overloading the washing machine can also lead to unnecessary abrasion to the garment.
60ºC warm wash & tumble dry
This will protect the reflective tape; excessive temperatures could cause the class bead to come away from the tape and affect reflectivity.
